Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)
SOS aims to support women (aged 21 and over), as well as their families, to respond and deal with psychosocial issues related to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the North-West of England.
– Working in partnership with statutory and non-statutory agencies to better respond to FGM-related issues.
– Working directly with FGM practicing communities living in Greater Manchester and across the North-West of England to raise awareness on the effects of FGM and to empower girls and women in becoming advocates who combat FGM.
– Partnership with educational institutions, with an academic research element involving local universities in investigating psychological effects of FGM and on the best response for an appropriate culturally adapted therapeutic support.

The Guardian Project
The Guardian Project is a free FGM culturally adapted psychosocial service across Greater Manchester for young girls affected or at risk of FGM, under the age of 21.
This project works jointly with professionals and agencies involved in FGM cases, to standardize response and address the gap in support and service provision that is culturally competent and youth friendly.
Please read our leaflet for further information.
We are available to visit your service to present the project further and shows how we can work together.
We also provide expert advice on issues related to FGM to professionals.
